Can I use power equipment?

  • No Airboats
  • UTV, ATV Allowed. Use caution. Springs and slush make this a challenge.
  • Snow dogs. People have used them in the past.
  • Snowmobiles. Bring your own or rent from local shops. Tell the shop when you rent that you’re using it on the lake. Not all shops allow this. All OHV’s Snowmobiles must be licensed. 2023 Season Regulations states that they must have the OHV Tag $35.00 operated anywhere in Montana. Tags are available at West Yellowstone Visitor Center.

2023 FWP Montana Fishing Regulations

  • If you can be cited for a Violation of Rules, you are also Disqualified. Receiving a citation disqualifies you. Please be ethical and honest.
  • Ice hole max size 12in in diameter.
  • Shelters may not be left on ice January 5th-7th in tournament zone.
  • 2 lines, 2 hooks per line as per MT Regulations.
  • 6 Fish per team. Both fishers must catch fish. This means your partner must catch 1 fish to be legal.
