Friday Night Gathering

SIF High School Registration/Rules Meeting (5:00 PM-7:00 PM) – Limited to 25 or less people in person at the Holiday Inn Conference Center. If the number of teams and family members exceed 25, we will conduct the rules meeting virtually.

Saturday - January 9, 2021

High School Tournament

The High School teams will be fishing from 7:00AM-Noon, with the weigh-in immediately following at the Marina.


Starting around 8:00 am, tournament participants, including Ice Fishing Pro-Staff, will be be pre-fishing Hebgen Lake all morning, heading out on the ice from the Kirkwood Marina.

Saturday Kids Ice Camp

The Kids Ice Camp will start with classroom instruction and demonstration at the Holiday Inn Conference Center and then on-ice fishing experience at Kirkwood Marina on Hebgen Lake. Groups limited to 25 people or less, so classroom instruction will be by pre-registration only starting Dec. 15, 2020. Times will be 1:00pm, 1:30pm, 2:00pm & 2:30pm with each group heading on-ice after each session. Face masks and social distancing required in classroom. The classroom instruction and demonstration will cover ice fishing equipment, techniques, safety, conservation & environmental stewardship. At the Kirkwood Marina everyone heads out onto the ice for demonstrations delivered by experienced, certified NAIFC Pro-Staff instructors.
Before leaving, all kids who participate also will receive a snack and complimentary ice rod.
Make sure to dress warmly including waterproof footwear for this outside event. Parents must accompany their kids during this event. It is an outdoor event, so please dress for the weather.

Saturday Night Mandatory Rules Meeting

Registration for the Tournament runs from 4:30-6:45 pm at the Holiday Inn in West Yellowstone. Teams will be allowed in groups of 25 or less to pick up packets. Drive-up through the rear parking lot will also be available.

The Rules Meeting, which is mandatory for at least one member of each team, starts at 7 pm and will be held virtually. During the Rules Meeting, the exact starting time for the contest the following morning will be announced.

Unfortunately, due to limited gathering size, we will not be holding the in-person dinner or Calcutta. Please support our local restaurants during your stay.

Sunday - January 10, 2021

Sunday Morning NAIFC Tournament

The contest starts shortly after daylight with the exact starting time announced at the mandatory Rules Meeting the night before. Teams go out on the ice on Hebgen Lake from Kirkwood Marina in the order of their registration.

Teams broke down into small flights (3-4 teams at a times, (spaced out on the ice) or as individual teams if small flights not within guidelines. There will be flights times going out (checkout) and flight times coming in (check-in). Inspection, set equipment out then team backs away, once inspection has taken place team loads and leaves. Masks to be worn by inspectors and teams at this time. Everyone will get the same amount of fishing time. Extremely limited contact.

Please be aware that there is private property along the lake’s edge, especially to the immediate west of Kirkwood Marina. No access to the lake for the tournament or for pre-fishing is allowed through private property. Also, please always show courtesy to those lakefront homeowners when fishing Hebgen Lake.

Sunday Indoor Weigh-In and Awards

Teams come in on set flight times keeping distant from each team. Weigh-in will be lake side. One team member brings bucket of fish to front tailor ramp (drop off bucket, think reverse curbside delivery). Front and rear trailer ramp doors draped in clear poly so process is visible to team. Fish weighed, weigh slip is produced, team leaves, results posted on-line, refreshed frequently. Extremely limited contact.

Full day snowmobile and snowcoach tours leave from West Yellowstone and travel over the snow into Yellowstone's wintry wonderland of steaming geysers and amazing wildlife.
